The vision of “Waste Reduction.Resources Circulation.Zero Landfill”

The Government unveiled a new long-term strategy blueprint on waste management entitled the “Waste Blueprint for Hong Kong 2035” which advocates the vision of “Waste Reduction.Resources Circulation.Zero Landfill”, with a long-term target to move away from the reliance on landfills for direct waste disposal by developing adequate waste-to-energy facilities.

Waste-to-energy facilities (e.g. I·PARK (“Integrated Waste Management Facilities”), O·PARKs (“Organic Resources Recovery Centres”), T·PARK (“Sludge Treatment Facility”)), etc. are essential elements of the “Waste Blueprint for Hong Kong 2035” and “Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2030+”. Great demand is envisaged in advanced waste treatment and engineering expertise for implementing the aforesaid initiatives progressively in the coming years.
